Bye, Bye Birdie Dance Workshop
When: Tuesday, July 8
Time: 6:30-8:30pm
***Please Note: This class will be held at Feat Dance Studio at 800 S Greanleaf St. Rear in Downtown Brownwood***
What You Will Learn:
In this workshop, you'll get a taste of the dance styles featured in Bye Bye Birdie, with a focus on building strong technique rather than jumping into memorizing choreography. During the first hour, you'll explore classic musical theatre movement—covering common steps and stylistic choices that bring character and energy to the stage. In the second hour, you'll be introduced to simple swing dance fundamentals, helping you feel confident with partnered movement. Throughout the class, you'll work on proper technique, body awareness, and musicality—all designed to strengthen your overall skills and make you a more versatile, expressive dancer. Please wear clothing which allows you to move such as dancewear, gym wear, yoga clothing, etc.
Meet Your Instructor:Shannon Lyra Dennis has been dancing since before she could walk, with ballet and gymnastics quickly following once she could. Her lifelong passion for movement has led her to explore a wide range of styles including jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. However, her heart truly belongs to partnered dance—particularly ballroom, Latin, and swing. Shannon’s first love is musical theatre, and she is continually inspired by the power of movement to elevate storytelling. She believes that the best dancers are also compelling actors, and that great actors bring their characters to life through dance. With a deep respect for both disciplines, Shannon brings energy, creativity, and a storytelling focus to every class she teaches.
